Here are some drum containers near the entrance to Bodie. Much of what was left behind when Bodie was abandoned has been preserved
Equipment and houses still stand exactly where they were left.
The church is one of the few structures sound enough for tourists to still enter and walk around in
These buildings were factories, houses, fire stations, gas stations, schools, an entire town, now void of inhabitants, save the rangers
Furniture attempting to stand the test of time, apparently losing...
All the dishes were left untouched from when residents left Bodie
Bodie was destroyed in a fire, and rebuilt by inhabitants. Many times we'll see structures made of wood, others they are made of brick
This home probably belonged to a wealthier Bodie resident. You can tell by the porch and fancy woodwork.
They even had an enclosed glass porch
Just need horses to get this thing going!
Factories and housing. Bodie is by no means a small place
Signs fading from wear and tear over the years
The general store, still fully stocked, no tourists are allowed inside, for fear of pillaging
The cans left on the shelves remain untouched years later
Even ghiardelli's chocolate was left behind in Bodie
The shell brand gasoline sign
People are dwarfed as you look up the mountain and Bodie continues on into the hills...
With the fire engine still inside
Bodie Hotel -- Like the sign says (it really is the Bodie hotel)
You can check out... but you can't ever leave! (Mwahaha!)
Bodie Hotel's dining area
Again, brick structures rebuilt after a fire tore through Bodie
Bodie stretches on for miles and miles... the road is often closed due to snow
This was once a globe, used by the teacher in the school
A view through the window inside the school. The teacher having written on the easel's paper
Student desks, all left as they were...
Power lines on Bodie's streets
Technology didn't evade Bodie, they even had motor cars
One of Bodie's factories... possibly the power plant...
A map in the tourist center shows us where Bodie is in the mountains
Original artwork on the wall in the visitor center
A hearse preserved at the Visitor Center
Possessions left behind by Bodie inhabitants
Another hearse - horse drawn.
